COVID-19 Policy & Guidelines

COVID-19 Policy & Guidelines

Due to Covid-19 we have some specific additions and alterations to our company policies to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees.

We strictly follow government guidelines for each of our office locations. 🇳🇿 New Zealand Guidelines 🇦🇺 NSW Australia Rules 🇺🇸 Texas Guidelines

NOTE: We will ensure that any updates to this policy are clearly communicated and updated as they occur.

Working from an office

If the government rules allow us to work from an office, then we follow these guidelines and practices to ensure everyone's safety.

Who can work from an office?

  • You must be fully vaccinated, meaning that two weeks have elapsed since your second vaccination shot if you are on a two dose vaccine, or two weeks after your first shot if you are on a single dose vaccine.
  • If you’re not yet fully vaccinated, you’ll need to work from home until you are.
  • You are required to provide evidence of being fully vaccinated before you may return to the office. Options are: A copy of your vaccination card, your Covid record, or a letter from the government or health officials confirming you are fully vaccinated. Please provide this to your leader via email and copy [relevant COVID-19 response persons email].
  • If the government is advising everyone in your location to work from home but not enforcing it strictly, then you will need approval from Joyous before you can work from an office. We understand some people may have a reason to do so, we will consider each case individually. Please raise this with your leader.
  • Regardless of government advice, until there’s a bit more certainty if you don’t feel safe coming into the office then you don’t need to. Please let your leader know how you are feeling.

What are our COVID-19 office safety practices?

  • If you have any symptoms such as a runny nose, cough or other covid-19 like symptoms, you should not go to the office.
  • Record office visits, e.g. Auckland - upon arrival at the office please scan the covid barcode using the tracer app.
  • Remain at least 1 metre, ideally 2 metres (six feet) apart from any other employee at all times.
  • Practice good hygiene including regularly washing and disinfecting your hands.
  • Regularly disinfect surfaces, buttons, handles, knobs, and other places touched often.
  • Do not have meetings in closed meeting rooms if possible.
  • Do not allow unvaccinated external people (including couriers and essential workers) to enter the office.
  • During an outbreak please do not use public transport to get to and from the office. If you do not have personal transport, please discuss other arrangements with your leader.
  • Please do not attend external work-related events or meetings in person unless a leader has advised you otherwise.

Lockdown Practices

Lockdown practices apply when one of our locations is experiencing a lockdown in which employees who would normally work from the office are required to work from home.

General guidelines

  • Do the best you can, lockdowns are hard. It's okay to not be okay. If you are not feeling good, look after yourself. Let us know if we can help you, and don't forget about our Counselling services benefit. You can arrange for online or phone call sessions if needed.
  • Check in on each other. You can and should take time every day to check in with your fellow team members. If you have any concerns about another team member, please let your leader know.
  • Company wide weekly showcases continue. We continue to do weekly showcases, even when a lockdown is in progress in any of our locations. Those in a lockdown should join the call remotely if possible. At the start of each showcase a team member will share something about themselves so we can all get to know each other.
  • Grab a lockdown Friday feed when you can. If it's possible to order takeaways during the lockdown, then we encourage everyone to order a lunch on Fridays. This can be claimed as an expense.
  • Joy Time. We arrange a 20-30 minute session to relax and experience joy together remotely each week. These times will be co-ordinated by our social committee.
  • Take time out to chat at the start of a meeting. It's okay to spend the first 5-10 minutes of a meeting chatting ahead of getting to business. Working apart means we don't spend those precious moments socialising the way we naturally would at the office.
  • Our Joy Days benefit will occur as planned, even during a lockdown.
  • Don't forget about our Home Office benefit, particularly if you are regularly working from home or find yourself working at home for long stretches due to a lockdown. It's important that your home office setup is as comfortable as possible.

Lockdown for parents

  • Family comes first. If you have young children and need to look after them during child care, you will still be paid your full salary. Let your leader know what you are able to do, and try not to pressure yourself.
  • During school holidays in lockdown, people with kids can and should take Monday and Tuesday off. This includes people with little kids who are too young for school and unable to attend daycare. These days can be swapped for other days of the week if that makes more sense for your individual circumstances. Let your leader know what works best for you.
